Where we work around Dayton
We remodel showers in Dayton and the towns around it, Shiloh, Riverside, Oakwood and Moraine among them. A house a little farther out is a question for the call, not a rule.

Pan, walls, valve and glass
We tear out the old shower and build a new one in Dayton homes and rentals, waterproofed and sloped to the drain before a single tile goes on.
Shower Remodel
A shower remodel takes the old shower out down to the pan and the wall board and builds a new one in its place, with a waterproofed base, new walls, a new valve and glass. We do it in homes and rental properties in Dayton, Ohio.
It is more than new tile over old. What gives out in a worn shower usually sits behind and under the finish, so that is where our work starts.
From the Pan Up
A new shower includes demolition and disposal, a waterproofing membrane, a tile or pan base, the wall finish, a glass enclosure and final trim and sealant, and we build them in a set order so each layer is checked before the next one covers it.
These are the parts of the job, in the order we build them:
Old tile, wall board and the worn base come out to the studs, and the debris leaves with us.
With the wall open, the new valve and supply lines go in where you want the controls, with the shower head you pick, including low-flow models labelled by U.S. EPA WaterSense.
"Cement board" goes up and the membrane goes over it, so water stops at that layer instead of reaching the studs.
The "shower pan", the base under your feet, is sloped to the drain, whether it is tiled on site or a formed pan.
Wall and floor tile are set and grouted, or wall panels go up where that is the finish you chose.
A "frameless glass enclosure", heavy glass with no metal frame, is hung, the trim goes on and every joint is sealed.
No Step at the Door
A "curbless" shower has no lip at the entry, so we plan its floor slope before anything else is built.
With no curb to hold water back, the whole floor has to fall toward the drain, and that pitch decides how the floor is prepared and where the drain goes. Walk-in showers are often finished with frameless glass, a fixed panel or a door, so the open look carries through.
What It Costs
We price a shower remodel on its size, the materials on the walls and floor, the glass and whether the drain or valve has to move, and we quote the whole job in writing before work starts.
For a sense of scale, these are typical ranges in Dayton:
Keeping the drain, supply lines and valve where they are holds the cost down; moving them adds plumbing work. Moisture, framing or subfloor damage found after demolition adds to it too, and if we find any, we show you and write it down for your approval before that work goes ahead.
These are typical figures for the area, not our quote. Your price comes from the estimate visit.
Plan It First
Designing the shower first makes the rest of the bathroom easier to plan, because the drain, the valve and the wall layout decide where everything else goes.
That is why our estimate visit starts at the shower: where the drain sits now, which wall holds the valve, and what the sink and toilet have to work around.

Call AK Shower ProsMost shower remodels in Dayton typically run $3,000 to $10,000, and a walk-in shower typically runs $3,000 to $8,000. Size, materials and whether the drain or valve moves decide where yours lands, and we quote it in writing before we start.
Our guide to bathroom remodel cost walks through what moves the price.
The least expensive redo keeps the drain, the supply lines and the valve where they are. A "surround replacement", new walls around the shower without moving the fixtures, costs less than a conversion that needs a new plumbing "rough-in".
On the estimate visit we tell you which parts of your shower can stay.
It takes several trades in a set order: demolition, plumbing, waterproofing, a sloped pan, tile and glass. The hard part is the part you never see, because the membrane and the slope have to be right before any tile goes on. We handle the whole sequence, from tear-out to trim.
