In Order
How the remodel runs in Shiloh homes
Every Shiloh remodel follows one fixed order: demolition, rough plumbing and electrical, inspection, waterproofing, tile, fixtures and finish.
What changes in an older house is what demolition turns up. In a house from around 1960, pulling the original tile can expose rotted framing, a soft subfloor or old water damage; we write that repair down with its cost, and nothing proceeds until you sign off on it.
No stage begins before the previous one is finished:
- Demolition
Out come the original tub, surround, tile and fixtures, opened to the studs wherever the new work calls for it.
- Rough plumbing and electrical
The "rough-in": with the walls open, we run new supply and drain lines and any new wiring.
- Inspection
If the job needs a permit, an inspector checks the rough-in before any wall is closed up.
- Waterproofing
"Cement board" is hung, the "waterproofing membrane" covers it, and the shower pan gets its slope toward the drain.
- Tile
Floor and wall tile go down and get grouted, or wall panels go up if that is what you picked.
- Fixtures
We install and hook up the vanity, toilet, valve trim, glass and lighting.
- Finish
Paint, caulk, a final walk-through with you, then the room is cleaned before we go.
